Dead On Arrival (DOA) Policy

At Simply Shrimply, we take pride in shipping healthy, carefully packed livestock. While issues are rare, we understand that live animal shipping carries inherent risk. This Dead On Arrival (DOA) Policy outlines the conditions under which claims may be reviewed.
By placing an order, you agree to the terms below.
1. Live Arrival Guarantee Window
Customers have 6 hours from confirmed delivery time to report any Dead On Arrival (DOA) livestock.
The 6-hour window begins based on the delivery timestamp provided by the shipping carrier.
Claims submitted after 6 hours are not eligible for review.
2. Required Documentation
To qualify for a DOA review, you must email
customerservice@simplyshrimply.com within 6 hours and provide:
Clear photo of the unopened bag containing the deceased livestock
Clear photo showing the shipping label on the box
Clear photo or short video clearly showing the deceased livestock inside the original, unopened bag
The bag must remain sealed until documentation is completed.
Failure to provide complete documentation voids eligibility.
3. Conditions That Void the Guarantee
The DOA policy is void under the following circumstances:
Incorrect or incomplete shipping address provided by customer
Failed delivery attempt due to customer absence
Package left outdoors, in mailbox, or unattended for extended time
Delay caused by carrier but customer fails to retrieve promptly
Extreme weather warnings where customer chose to proceed with shipment
Shipment rerouted or held at customer request
Bag opened before documentation
Improper acclimation
Mixing with tank water before reporting
Simply Shrimply reserves the right to deny claims that do not meet policy requirements.
4. Weather & Seasonal Risk
We closely monitor weather conditions before shipment. If extreme heat, freezing temperatures, or severe storms are forecasted, we may delay shipping for livestock safety.
If a customer insists on shipping during extreme weather conditions against recommendation, the Live Arrival Guarantee may be voided.
Animal safety always comes first.
5. Shipping Delays
We are not responsible for carrier-related delays once the package has been transferred to the shipping provider.
While we pack livestock to withstand normal transit times, extended delays beyond our control may void the guarantee.
6. Resolution Process
If a claim is approved, remedies are issued at our discretion in one of the following forms:
Store credit
Replacement livestock (when available)
We do not issue cash refunds unless required by law.
Shipping fees are non-refundable.
Approved credits must be used within the time frame specified in your resolution email.
7. Limit of Liability
Our liability is strictly limited to the purchase price of the affected livestock.
Simply Shrimply LLC is not responsible for:
Loss of other tank inhabitants
Parameter crashes
Indirect or consequential damages
Emotional distress
Breeding loss
Once livestock is successfully delivered and acclimated, ongoing care responsibility transfers fully to the customer.
8. Customer Responsibility
Customers are responsible for:
Ensuring a fully cycled and appropriate tank
Stable water parameters
Being available to receive shipments
Prompt acclimation
Reviewing all care guides prior to purchase
Failure to prepare properly does not qualify as DOA.
9. Fraud Prevention
False or altered claims, reused photos, or policy abuse may result in:
Denial of claim
Refusal of future service
Permanent ban from purchasing
We document all shipments for quality assurance.
10. New York Consumer Law Notice
Nothing in this policy limits or waives any rights you may have under applicable New York consumer protection laws.
This policy is intended to comply with all state and federal regulations governing consumer transactions.
Final Note
We are hobbyists who care deeply about the animals we raise. Every shrimp is packed with intention and attention to detail. When procedures are followed, successful arrivals are the norm.
